Humor has been a constant feature in the literature of Bahía Blanca–born author Héctor Libertella, from his three early award-winning novels to his posthumously published rewritings. However, humor is not limited to his fictional works; it also permeates his theoretical-critical texts. While the humorous code does not take on a fixed form within Libertella’s creative project, it can be understood as a disruptive element and a means of resisting textual homogeneity, academic solemnity, and intellectual weariness. Moreover, comic elements constitute one of the many strategies through which fiction infiltrates the discursive levels and forms of criticism and theory, thereby enabling new modes of scientific knowledge. This paper explores and analyzes some of the humorous mechanisms employed by Libertella in his works in order to establish a dialogue between his literary production and his methods of knowledge construction.
